The Playful Path to Social Impact

What is Social Impact Gaming?

Social Impact Gaming is a new way to support the work of nonprofits and a playful path to social change. Although our games are designed for players first, the game stories revolve around social impact causes including disaster relief, ocean preservation, environmental protection, mental health, and others. We help raise awareness of these issues by including educational elements in our games, expanding the reach and visibility of our nonprofit partners, and sharing up to 30% of our profits with those partners.

Who are our current nonprofit partners?

For our first game, Paraiso Island, we initially partnered with All Hands and Hearts.

All Hands and hearts is a volunteer-powered nonprofit that addresses the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. To date, AHAH has impacted over 1.1 million lives and completed 256 schools in communities affected by disasters.

In the future, we will partner with different partners for various game developments.

How can you get involved?

That’s an easy one: just play our games! 🙂 And tell your friends. The more people play, the more awareness we can raise and share more funds with our partners. Playing the games means that little by little, you are contributing to a good cause.

Why are brands included in the game(s)?

To offset the large profit share to nonprofit organizations, we closely work with hand-selected brands that support our efforts. OER is committed to ensuring that brand partnerships maintain and expand the gameplay experience in a respectful fashion.

Is OER a nonprofit?

OER is a for profit company and one of the first video game development studios for console games incorporated as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC). OER is embarking to bring a whole new stream of revenue to the nonprofit industry by generating sustainable sources of funding through interactive experiences. At OER, gaming, entertainment, education, investing and social good come together. We are currently in the process of applying for our B Corp certification.
